THE NEWLY-FORMED Jeeralang Boolarra Cricket Club have appointed former CATS player Brett Langmaid as their Senior Captain Coach for the 2001-2002 season.

Langmaid is excited about the opportunity of coaching Jeeralang Boolarra in their inaugural season “I’m hoping to implement a fresh approach to training and playing Cricket. I think that we can become one of the power house clubs in the T.D.C.A and create an image that will be respected by all other clubs.”

Langmaid was interviewed by a panel of Committee members last Tuesday. Club President Mick Wright found that Langmaid’s credentials and coaching philosophies were ideal for the new club. “We were most impressed by Brett and his attitude, enthusiasm and innovative ideas for the club. We hope that by appointing Brett we will encourage players from surrounding areas to come and play in a well managed club, especially if they are looking to play at A Grade level.”

Langmaid wants to emphasise that Jeeralang Boolarra will be built around teamwork.

“One of the first things on the agenda is to get my message across to all players that the team comes first and no-one is bigger than the team.

“I will strive to make all players mentally tougher and become more professional in the way we go about our Cricket.”

Jeeralang Boolarra also held its first committee meeting recently. The club colours and a logo were chosen. The club will now be known as the Panthers with colours of Navy (Boolarra), Gold (Jeeralang) and Black (representing the Panther).

Jeeralang Boolarra will hold a light training session and get-together at the Boolarra Memorial Park on Sunday the 22nd of July at midday. All interested parties are invited to come.
