The Jeeralang-Boolarra Cricket Club is now geared up for the 2001-2002 season in the Traralgon and District Cricket Association.
The Captains for the four teams have been announced.
The coach of the club Brett Langmaid will lead the A Grade team with fast bowler Brad Wright as his vice captain. The A grade team is a force to be reckoned with, as the cream of the players from Jeeralang and Boolarra have been mixed together. The club has also recruited a talented Indian batsman, whom most of us know as Sid.
Club stalwart Ian Gibson has been appointed as the Captain of the B Grade team. Ian will use his years of experience to help to bring many of the players up to an A Grade standard.
Grant McNeill and Chris O’Brien will captain the two C Grade teams. It is hoped that the two teams will perform well and push for a finals berth. We will have to wait and see.
The club has installed nets in the Nissan hut at Boolarra and now has a quality indoor facility for training when the weather is not agreeable. This will be available for both senior and junior use.
Training numbers have been excellent. On occasions we have had enough players attending to fill 3 teams. At training there has been a good mix of net work and fielding practice to get everyone sharp for the season. Training is at Boolarra on Tuesdays and at Gaskin Park on Thursdays. Both sessions start at 5pm.
All spectators are welcome to come and have a look. Games will be held at Boolarra and Gaskin Park every week.
